SAGE DESIGN was created out of my love for the agricultural roots of Montana and Wyoming, my commitment to sustainability, and my passion for living well. These components provide the design framework.
Based in Wyoming, I am in love with the west, its people, skies, and land. My appreciation for open spaces translates to designs that both celebrate and resourcefully utilize land in all contexts.

JESSICA CHERNI
I'm Jessica Cherni, independent designer and Montana native, now enjoying the great state of Wyoming with my husband. My professional and personal passions are all tied to my love of this place and its people.
My interest in design stems from my family’s roots in the construction field. I earned Bachelor of Environmental design and Master of Architecture degrees from MSU . Also interested in science and medicine, I became a Registered Nurse several years later. Design is the perfect way to synthesize creativity with my desire to help others: it is an artform that brings family and friends together and fosters meaningful connections.
For many years, I have had a dual interest in medicine and design. While at Montana State University, I did my graduate thesis on "Resilience: the healing components of design". Several years later led me to complete nursing school and becoming a registered nurse. Combining the two fields has brought me great satisfaction which has led me to begin SAGE DESIGN, focusing on DESIGN FOR HEALTHY LIVING.
Subsequent to earning an Architecture degree, I worked at Place Architecture in Bozeman, MT. I was involved in various production and project management roles on a variety of projects for Place Architecture including: single family homes and remodels, the Knolls at Hillcrest Retirement Community new home designs, and a Department of the Interior Border Crossing Station. I also was involved in the production and completion of a variety of high end custom homes while working at Miller Architects in Bozeman, MT. Additionally, I held the position of lead landscape designer at Field of Dreams Tree Farm and Nursery in Billings, MT. I am a certified Gardenary, garden coach and member.
My experience as an independent, freelance designer has involved a variety of projects including: agricultural buildings, landscapes, single family home new construction and home remodels, master-planning and upgrades for the Bozeman Hot Springs and Bozeman Campground.
Inspired by the outdoors, my husband and I enjoy gardening, hiking, camping, and photographing beautiful old barns + landscapes.
